On behalf of the members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Gamma Delta Omega Chapter, it is my pleasure to bring you greetings and welcome you to our official website. I encourage you to explore these pages to learn more about our rich history, upcoming service activities, and our continued commitment to be of service in Portsmouth, Virginia and surrounding areas. We also encourage you to take note of the scholarship and fundraising initiatives with Twenty Pearls, Incorporated (TPI), the philanthropic arm of Gamma Delta Omega Chapter.
Chartered in 1939 by eleven dynamic women who sought to bring the ideas and goals of the international sorority to the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, these women began a legacy of service and community commitment that would last and continue to grow for now more than 81 years. Our chapter offers a sisterhood of members of diverse age groups, careers, and legacy status, which we appreciate and embrace each unique contribution offered to the chapter.
Gamma Delta Omega Chapter is excited to continue the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® in “Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service” led by our International President, Dr. Glenda Glover. Our chapter continues to collaborate with community partners and various organizations as we seek to address and fulfill our international program initiatives of HBCU for Life: A Call to Action, Women’s Healthcare and Wellness, Building Your Economic Legacy, The Arts, Global Impact, and the Signature Program #CAP℠ (College Admissions Process).
Our chapter welcomes members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, who are seeking a service-oriented and sisterly chapter to reactivate or transfer membership to. Please see the membership section of this website.
It is my honor and privilege to serve as the president of the Gamma Delta Omega Chapter for 2021-2022. I humbly stand on the shoulders of those who have traveled this road before me and opened the pathway for continued Service to All Mankind.
Yours in Excellence,
Tanya A. Weaver
Gamma Delta Omega Chapter President
